Obesity is currently an epidemic for our children. One in three children and adolescents are overweight or obese. The majority of obese adolescents become obese adults. There is also a strong correlation of parental obesity and the risk of the child becoming obese. Adolescents are starting to show changes in the blood vessels for atherosclerosis.

Things that increase the risk of obesity include decrease activity, poor sleep, poor food choices, sedentary behavior, too much TV/screen time, marketing directed at children, lack of proper portion control, poor role modeling form parents and caregivers and genetic.
